To start with, yugioh has gone in the wrong direction... fusion = TERRIBLE stratergy... but you probably don't even understand or care about what i'm going to say, so i'll begin lol :P
If you want to buy an entire deck:
- ANY elemental hero starter deck is what all the kids want now
- Buy a few booster packs too... maybe about 3 DIFFERENT ones? they help to customise new decks :)
If you want to buy individual cards (e.g, from EBAY)
- Relinquished, Black illusion ritual and 1000 eyes restrict all go together
- 3 blue eyes white dragon cards, polymerisation (x2), blue eyes ultimate dragon, black luster soldier, black luster ritual and dragon master knight all go together (might be a tad expensive)
- The egyptian god cards (slifer the sky dragon, obelisk the tormentor, the winged dragon of ra)
Hope this helps :)

My nephew is getting into Yu-gi-oh cards. What are some of the best cards i could get him?
Gadgets are fairly powerful, and very cheap as well.
The DARK cards are the most powerful right now but are expensive and may not be new-user friendly.
Six Samurai and Gladiator Beasts are also cheap and powerful as well. Most of their cards are commons like the gadget support cards and should be relatively easy to aquire.
Reply:I'll tell ya now, you're gonna get lots of varied answers to this one, because most of the cards can work well and be considered "the best" in the right situations.
Offhand, though, I'd go with a starter deck.
The recent starter decks cost only $10, and they contain lots of the game's best cards - most of the decks can be used without any modification.
If you're willing to buy online, there are a couple of cards which are both cheap and good, in all situations and by anyone's standards.
My trademark examples are Gemini Elf and Needle Worm, but there are lots of others, and though they exist in holographic, $30 forms, you can get the non-holo versions ( which are just as good, when it comes to playing the game ), for less than a dollar each.
Reply:long story short: get a starter deck. it isnt much but it is a great start. its hard to tell which kind of starter deck to get but i say get 1 starter deck to start off with and your nephew will eventually grow out of the starter deck and create a deck that he'll like. so 1 starter deck for a start and let him grow and find his own little deck he'll be proud of!!! :-)
Reply:it is good to start with a starter deck or get him the neo deck or rainbow deck that is like the newest deck
Reply:blue eyes white dragon. this is my favourite theme monster( elemental hero and destiny hero).
